Photos of DVD Jackets, Sleeves, and Wallets
Jackets, Sleeves, and Wallets. We're not quite sure we know the difference ourselves.
Jackets & wallets maybe are bifold, trifold, or more panels.
Sleeves are amy be 2pp?
They hold the disc without a tray and use some kind of pocket, sleeve, or hub. That's really the defining element and what makes a jacket different from a digipak. Because these do no have pre-fabricated trays, they are very easy for us to create custom dimensions.

Ways to Hold the Disc - Clear Trays, Paper Trays, Pockets / Sleeves, Hubs
There are basically four ways to hold your disc: trays, pockets, pockets / sleeves, and hubs:
Trays are the most popular way to hold one or two discs into a DVD or CD book. They allow a view of the entire disc surface, and since the trays are normally clear, you can see the art underneath. You have the option of aligning your disc art with the panel beneath. Trays can be used with any method of construction.

A variation on the plastic tray is the Recycled Paper Tray. Paper trays are made from 100% recycled paper and have a cork hub. It's a very earthy look.
Pockets are a popular way to hold the discs in many types of CD and DVD packaging, since the standard jacket construction style inherently gives you both sides of a pocket. Pockets in a book package are generally up-facing or out-facing. The out-facing pocket style is also very popular in LP disc packaging / cd albums.
Sleeves are a variation on the pocket, being made from thinner stock, and either attached to an inside cover or made to swing freely like a book page. Multi-disc sets can be made this way, with two discs per page. You can make the sleeves from coated or uncoated stock. You can print them as you would your other book pages or you can have them a single color, like a vintage '78 box set
.
Foam hubs are a great way to mount your disc, showing it off in its full glory. Hubs can stick on any surface and are available in black or white. We can also do clear gel hubs. Hubs are great alternative to plastic trays.

Linen, Cloth, Fabric, Leather Material — Limited Editions!
Silkscreen Printing or Foil StampingWe can do your CD or DVD chipboard based title with a special material and make you a stellar "Limited Edition" release. Options include Linen, Hemp , Cloth fabrics, and a vinyl Leather. One difficulty though - these special materials do not do well with full color printing, so you may need to think about 1C silkscreening or foil or the artwork.

Diecuts (knock outs) are available for special shapes or designs. You might want a guitar thumbhole like one of our clients did, or a window or window pane, or perhaps a peek-a-boo hole or lettering cut outs...the possibilities are endless.
Foil stamp is one of this season's hottest trends, available in silver, gold, or any range of colors. Silver on fiberboard is very happening, and red dots are way-chic and eye-popping. Blue foil is very sophisticated and has no limits of impressibility-factor.
If you're not looking for shiny, metallic inks are what you want. These are matte, like Apple's silver / tin, or a flat copper or gold.
Embossing (raised relief) is very popular for the title or artist name. If you need a subtle indentation, we can do debossing. Oh, the textures you can make!
See more examples and instruction on how to set up embossing or debossing on cd or dvd printed packagingSpot UV Gloss combined with Matte Lamination is a fantastic contrast technique, also textured.
Matte Lamination by itself is a soft, beautiful touch-me look. Or we can make it so shiny with Gloss Lamination you'll never get the fingerprints off. GlassPlus not included :)
Your title can have any finishes we offer. For more detail on matte lamination, embossing, foil stamp and ore, check out disc packaging finishes and special printing effects.
Also check our the paper stocks section (matte uncoated stock, fiberboard stock, etc) , as this will have a big impact on the look.
Don't forget the disc can have fun effects to match! Here is an example of spot gloss on the disc (see disc varnish page) matching the spot gloss/matte lamination done on the packaging: Check out our range of special effects! If custom configurations and paper stocks and finishes and booklet options aren't enough, you can also play with various effects.
